Adding tiebreaker disks to an external IBM Storage Scale Tiebreaker node

A tiebreaker disk is created automatically when the external IBM Storage Scale Tiebreaker node is installed, but you can create this disk manually if needed.

About this task

A tiebreaker disk is created for each of the cluster file systems as part of the installation procedure when an external IBM Storage Scale Tiebreaker node is attached to a primary configuration. If the tiebreaker disk was not created, or you need to create a new tiebreaker disk for a new file system, you can run an operation on the tiebreaker virtual machine to create the tiebreaker disk. The size of the newly created external tiebreaker disk is 256 MB.

Procedure

  1. Use SSH to connect to the tiebreaker virtual machine.
  2. As the root user, run this operation:
python /opt/IBM/GPFSPattern/gpfs/gpfsInstall/gpfs.py -operationName createTieDisk -fileSystemName <your system name>

Results

The result of this operation is logged to /opt/IBM/GPFSPatternLogs/gpfs.log.

What to do next

Make sure that the tiebreaker disk is visible to the cluster by running the Get Cluster Status operation on the primary configuration.
