Try Java in our sandbox
You don't have to have access to an IBM® z/OS® or CICS® system to try Java with CICS.
IBM Z software trials gives you free access to an environment within 2 hours for 3 days. You don't have to install anything and you sign in either through a web browser or a remote desktop application. You can work through the tutorials or just have a look around.
The trial allows you to create and deploy a Java application.
IBM Z® Trial: create and deploy a Java application
This trial takes about 30 minutes. It illustrates the following combination of Design choices for Java in CICS.

During the trial, you can:
- Create a Java web project by using the sample material that is provided
- Include the web project in a CICS bundle and deploy it to zFS.
- Create and install the CICS bundle into CICS Transaction Server for z/OS.
- Test the web application in a browser and modify.
To start the trial:
- Go to IBM Z software trials.
- Click Database, application server.
- At the trial for IBM CICS Transaction Server for z/OS, click Register for the trial.
- Complete the short form. Click Start your free trial.
- Confirmation emails are sent to your registered email address. These emails contain your credentials to access the trial environment and all the materials.
