Implementing the solution

Implementing the solution in this scenario involves creating, compiling, and running the scripts for Workload Simulator to simulate application workloads.

Before you begin

The starting point for this scenario is an existing CICS® application with Workload Simulator installed in a z/OS® logical partition. For information about Workload Simulator, see Workload Simulator documentation.

The scenario uses the general insurance application as an example. You can implement the Workload Simulator scenario with the general insurance application deployed in a single region, topology, or a CICSplex managed by CICSPlex® SM. To run the scenario in a topology, see Scenario: Creating a CICS topology that is managed by CICSPlex System Manager.

If you have configured the general insurance application to accept web service requests, you can run a web service workload in addition to or instead of the terminal workload. To add web services to the general insurance application, see Scenario: Enhancing an application with web services.

About this task

Workload Simulator is a terminal and network tool that you can use to perform different types of testing. The solution involves configuring the system to connect Workload Simulator to the application, and creating the scripts that simulate a terminal and web service workload. You can use the provided jobs to create the scripts for the general insurance application and format the results.
