Use this information to plan your installation and install CICS Explorer®.

Planning CICS Explorer installation
CICS Explorer is a system management tool that is delivered as part of CICS Transaction Server. It provides an easy-to-use way to manage one or more CICS systems. It is based on an Eclipse platform and provides a view of some CICSPlex SM functions in a CICS Transaction Server, and a platform for the integration of CICS tools.
Taking a backup of the CICS Explorer workspace
Before you upgrade to a new release of CICS Explorer, it is advisable to back up your CICS Explorer workspace so that you can restore the workspace to a previous version, if required.
Installing CICS Explorer: IBM Installation Manager
You can use IBM® Installation Manager to install CICS Explorer on a workstation. When you install CICS Explorer in this way, you must also use Installation Manager to install updates or additional features.
Installing CICS Explorer: download a compressed file
You can install CICS Explorer as a stand-alone product on a local workstation by downloading a self-contained compressed file. When you install CICS Explorer in this way, you must use the Eclipse p2 update method to install updates or additional features.
Installing CICS Explorer: Eclipse p2 update site
You can install CICS Explorer into an existing Eclipse product by using an Eclipse p2 update site. When you install CICS Explorer in this way, you must also use the Eclipse p2 update method to install updates or additional features.
Installing the CICS SDK for web and JSP
If you did not install the CICS SDK for web and JSP when you installed CICS Explorer, you can add this feature to your CICS Explorer installation.
Changing the CICS Explorer workspace location
CICS Explorer uses a local workspace folder to save its data and configuration files. By default, the workspace folder is stored in your user directory. You can change the location where CICS Explorer saves the workspace.
