Operating
This section contains information on changes to the way you operate CICS® Transaction Gateway 10.1.
Refer to the Upgrading cross reference table to find which of these tasks are applicable to your upgrade.
IPIC server statistics created at startup
This information describes the changes to the behaviour of CSx statistics for IPIC servers.
CSx statistic resource groups are now created for all configured IPIC servers when the Gateway daemon starts. Prior to 9.1, a CSx resource group for an IPIC server was not created until the first request was sent to the IPIC server. If your configuration file contains IPIC server definitions which are not used, this change of behaviour will increase the number of CSx statistics provided by the Gateway daemon and increase the size of the Gateway daemon SMF 111 records.
To prevent CSx statistics from being created for unused IPIC servers, ensure the IPICSERVER definitions are commented out in the configuration file.
Improved configuration file checking
This information describes the enhanced checking of configuration files that you need to consider when upgrading from CICS Transaction Gateway 7.2 or earlier.
CICS Transaction Gateway configurations that worked with previous releases might not work after you upgrade. Configuration checking is enhanced to ensure that the values used by CICS Transaction Gateway are the intended ones. Protocol handlers are not started unless explicitly configured.
The Configuration Tool is removed from this version of CICS Transaction Gateway for IBM z/OS. To assist in configuring CICS Transaction Gateway additional scenario configuration files are provided. For more information, see Scenarios.
IBM Semeru 17 is required by the Gateway daemon
This information details the Java™ runtime environment that is required by CICS Transaction Gateway 10.1.
CICS Transaction Gateway requires the IBM Semeru 17 runtime environment. For more information, see Java runtime environments for core components.
Ensure the PATH environment variable in the STDENV file used during CICS TG initialization contains the location of the IBM Semeru 17 runtime environment.
