CICS® Transaction Gateway now provides an additional resource adapter - CICS JEE Inbound Resource Adapter that provides the capability to allow TXSeries® CICS application to invoke JEE applications in a global transaction under two-phase commit protocol.
CICS applications that are hosted in TXSeries can access J2EE applications through standard
interfaces like EXEC CICS LINK. This capability is provided
from CICS TG 9.2.0.1 onwards. This is illustrated in figure.

CICS Transaction Gateway inbound resource adapter provides following features:
A simple programming model requiring no change to CICS programs.
Access to J2EE applications from CICS applications by using EXEC CICS LINK API.
Allow passing of COMMAREA from CICS applications directly to J2EE applications.
Support for IPIC protocol.
Supports for two-phase commit transactions from TXSeries to JEE application server.
This capability is supported on IBM® AIX®® and IBM Linux®®, all the supported versions of Windows operating systems and Intel Linux platforms. This capability is not supported on IBM z Systems®™ machine that is supported by Linux.
This capability is available only in local mode topology.
CICS Transaction Gateway Desktop Edition: Support is not provided for the JCA resource
adapter.
CICS JEE inbound resource adapter supports incoming requests from TXSeries only. CICS TS is not supported by this resource adapter.
