Planning shared local storage
Shared local storage is a special type of local storage. The shared local storage is shared among multiple compute nodes and treated as their own local storage by each compute node.
The shared storage modeling is introduced in V1.1.4. The separated shared storage resource provider is created in the placement database so that shared storage resource can be calculated correctly by the placement, in the IBM® Cloud Infrastructure Center. Unnecessary virtual machine creation requests do not reach later stages. Refer to Sharing Resource Providers and Placement policies for details.
Note If the KVM shared storage or z/VM® SSI is used in the IBM® Cloud Infrastructure Ceter prior to V1.1.4, the placement migration tool needs to be run after the upgrade. Refer to KVM upgrade and z/VM® upgrade for details. This is not needed for the new V1.1.4 IBM® Cloud Infrastructure Center installation.
