Network topology rendering

You can check network topology in the IBM® Cloud Infrastructure Center.

The network topology can show network connections between the network, the subnet from the network, virtual machines that use the subnet and IP addresses information of the virtual machines.

It also shows the routers and relevant network connections, floating IPs when there are routers, floating IPs created for the RHEL KVM hypervisors in the IBM® Cloud Infrastructure Center.

See the following steps to explore the network topology:

  1. On the Networks page, click the Topology button.

  2. Choose the network name from the drop down list to check the network topology with a specific network. Or use label All to check all existing network topologies.

  3. You can put the cursor on floating buttons to check the detailed information for a specific button. To drag the floating buttons with the network topology operation is also available.

  4. Click the Refresh button to refresh the page.

Notes:

  • For z/VM type of network can contain multiple subnets, but the KVM type of the network contains only one subnet.

  • Routers and floating IPs are layer 3 network fuctionalities which apply to the RHEL KVM hypervisors, not z/VM hypervisors.
