Create, Edit, and Remove routers
Create routers
Follow these steps to create routers:
On the Networks page, click Routers (RHEL KVM Only) tab.
To click Add Router button leads you to the Add Router dialog.
In the Add Router dialog, complete the value for the following items:
Enter the Name.
Select External Network as the external gateway. It is optional. If you do not select it here, you can also set external gateway after the router is created. Refer to Set and Clear Gateway for more details.
Click Add button to save your changes.
Notes:
You can connect more than one layer 3 networks to a router, then the virtual machines that are deployed use these layer 3 networks can communicate with each other. To achieve it, you can add interfaces to a router, refer to Add and remove interfaces for more details.
A Router can connect layer 3 networks with the external gateway. The virtual machines that are deployed to use a layer 3 network can reach the outside world only after this layer 3 network is connected to a router, and the router is set external gateway.
Edit routers
Only the name of a router is allowed to be edited. There are two ways to achieve it:
On the Networks page, click Routers(RHEL KVM Only) tab.
Select the router that you want to edit, then click Edit Router button.
In the Edit Router dialog, complete the value for the following items:
Enter the Name.
Click Edit button to save your changes.
Or
On the Networks page, click Routers(RHEL KVM Only) tab.
Click the name of the router and go to the details of the router.
In the router detail page, in Overview tab, click Edit Router button.
In the Edit Router dialog, complete the value for the following items:
Enter the Name.
Click Edit button to save your changes.
Remove routers
There are two ways to achieve it:
On the Networks page, click Routers(RHEL KVM Only) tab.
Select the router that you want to remove, then click Remove Router button.
In popup dialog, click OK button to confirm a remove operation.
Wait until the router is removed from the window.
Or
On the Networks page, click Routers(RHEL KVM Only) tab.
Click the name of the router and go to the details of the router.
In the router detail page, in Overview tab, click Remove Router button.
In popup dialog, click OK button to confirm a remove operation.
Wait until the router is removed from the window.
Note: You need to clear its gateway, remove all interfaces added to the router and remove all static routes added to the routers before removing this router. Refer to Set and Clear Gateway, Add and remove interfaces and Add and Remove Static Routes for more details.
