Compatibility and requirements for the S3 Object Browser
Learn about the system, browser, and environment requirements needed to run the IBM Storage Ceph S3 Object Browser.
System requirements
- Memory

Minimum: 4 GB RAM
Recommended: 8 GB RAM for improved performance when working with larger objects
- Storage
- Approximately 50 MB for the application
Supported browsers
The S3 Object Browser is supported on the following web browsers:
- Google Chrome (latest two versions)
- Mozilla Firefox (latest two versions)
Environment requirements
Before you run the S3 Object Browser, ensure that your environment includes:
- An operational Ceph Object Gateway that is accessible from the browser
- A reachable S3-compatible endpoint
- Valid S3 credentials, including access key and secret key
Network and configuration requirements
The S3 Object Browser requires network access and service configuration to function correctly.
- Network access to the Ceph Object Gateway endpoint from the browser
- Configured ports for HTTP or HTTPS access
- Valid TLS certificates if HTTPS is used
CORS requirements
Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) must be configured on the Ceph Object Gateway server to allow the Object Browser to interact with the S3 endpoint.
Ensure that the required CORS headers are configured to allow browser-based requests.
