Manage object metadata and tags

View and manage object metadata and tags by using the S3 Object Browser.

About this task

After you select an object from the Objects view, you can view its metadata and manage tags. Tags are key-value pairs that help you organize and categorize objects.

View object metadata

Edit online

View metadata associated with an object.

Procedure

  • Select an object from the Objects view.
  • Open the object details.
  • View metadata information.
    The metadata section displays key information associated with the object.

Add or edit object tags

Edit online

Add or edit tags for an object.

Procedure

  1. Select an object from the Objects view.
  2. Open the object details and go to the Tags section.
  3. Click Create tag or Edit.
  4. Enter the tag key and value.
  5. Click Save.

Results

The tag is added or updated for the selected object.

Delete object tags

Edit online

Remove tags from an object.

Procedure

  1. Select an object from the Objects view.
  2. Open the object details and go to the Tags section.
  3. Select the tag to delete.
  4. Click Delete.
  5. Confirm the deletion.
    Deleting a tag permanently removes the key-value pair from the object.

Results

The tag is removed from the object.
