Manage buckets

View, create, and delete buckets by using the S3 Object Browser.

About this task

After you access the S3 Object Browser, you can manage your buckets from the Buckets page. You can view bucket details, create new buckets, and delete existing buckets.

View buckets

View buckets and their storage details in the S3 Object Browser.

About this task

The Buckets page provides an overview of all buckets available to the logged-in user. Use this information to view bucket details and identify buckets to manage.

Procedure

  • Review the bucket list from the Buckets page.
    The table displays details such as:
    • Bucket name
    • Storage used
    • Number of objects
    • Date created
  • Search for a bucket.
    Use the search field to filter buckets by name.

Create a bucket

Create a new bucket to store objects in the S3 Object Browser.

Procedure

  1. From the Buckets page, click Create bucket.
  2. Enter a unique name for the bucket.
    If the bucket name already exists, an error message is displayed.
  3. Optional: Enable object lock.
    Important: Object lock must be configured when the bucket is created. After it is enabled, it cannot be disabled.
    Enable Object lock to store objects using a write-once-read-many (WORM) model.
  4. Click Create.

Results

The bucket is created and appears in the bucket list.

Delete a bucket

Delete a bucket that you no longer need.

Procedure

Important: Deleting a bucket permanently removes the bucket and its contents.
  1. From the Buckets page, locate the bucket to delete.
  2. From the bucket options menu, click Delete.
  3. Confirm the deletion.

Results

The bucket is deleted and no longer appears in the bucket list.
