Node states
Node states indicate the current stage of a node during IBM Storage Ceph Provisioner installation and upgrade operations. Use this reference to understand what each state means and what action, if any, is required.
- PRELOAD
- The node downloads container images required for OS installation, Ceph deployment, or Ceph upgrade. The OS is installed by using RHEL Image Mode (bootc).
- READY TO INSTALL OS
- The node has downloaded all OS images. Installation begins when the Provisioner triggers the next stage.
- INSTALLING
- The node installs or upgrades OS or Ceph components.
- REBOOT
- The node reboots after OS installation.
- OS INSTALLED
- The node has the IBM Storage Ceph Bootc Image installed and is connected to the provisioning network.
- READY TO INSTALL CEPH
- The node has downloaded all Ceph images. Deployment begins when the Provisioner assigns a role.
- BOOTSTRAPPING
- The Provisioner configures the node as the initial Ceph admin node in the cluster.
- ADDING NODE
- The Provisioner adds the node to the cluster.
- CEPH INSTALLED
- The node runs Ceph daemons and is part of the IBM Storage Ceph cluster.
REQUIRED_CEPH_UPGRADE- The node reports that its Ceph daemons require an upgrade. The Provisioner upgrades the node by using cephadm.
