Updating PhotonOS packages

Upgrade an existing installation of the IBM Storage Ceph Plugin for vSphere by first updating the VM appliance packages. Upgrade VM appliance packages to their latest versions to address any potential security vulnerabilities in the operating system.

Before you begin

Ensure you have an active internet connection from the VM appliance. If your VM appliance does not have internet connection, it is best to download and re-deploy the latest appliance which would contain updated OS packages and upgrade the plugin separately.

Procedure

Update PhotonOS packages of the appliance VM by using the ibm-vm command.
  1. Log in to the vSphere plug-in appliance as root.
  2. Use the ibm-vm command to check for security updates and update PhotonOS packages, if any are found. 
    ibm-vm --update

Wait a few moments for the application to restart for the plugin to be accessible within vSphere.
