Manage clusters
Manage clusters centrally by performing lifecycle and operational tasks from the Multi-Cluster Manager dashboard.
Use Multi-Cluster Manager to manage clusters across your environment from a single interface.
You can perform Multi-Cluster Manager lifecycle tasks, such as attaching, archiving, restoring, and permanently deleting clusters. You can also initiate and manage IBM Storage Ceph cluster upgrades from a centralized interface.
Cluster management actions run through the Multi-Cluster Manager system and are applied on each cluster by the local agent.
The following tasks are available for managing clusters:
- Start, monitor, and control cluster upgrades.
For more information, see Upgrade a cluster.
- Manage cluster lifecycle operations, including archiving, restoring, and permanently deleting clusters.
For more information, see Manage cluster lifecycle.
- Monitor cluster health and performance.
For more information, see Monitor cluster health and performance.
- Customize how cluster data is displayed, displayed, filtered, and exported.
For more information, see Configure application settings in Multi-Cluster Manager.
How cluster management works
When you perform a management action, Multi-Cluster Manager sends the request to the cluster agent.
The agent applies the requested operation on the cluster and reports status and progress back to the server.
Some actions, such as cluster removal, might require additional configuration cleanup on the cluster depending on connectivity and system state.
