Maximo SaaS Flex integration and data migration options

IBM® Maximo® SaaS Flex services support integration to and from external systems.

Integration options

IBM Maximo SaaS Flex services support integration to / from external systems. Maximo SaaS Flex supports a number of options as required to secure integration connections such as SSL, VPN, and sFTP.

HTTPS (SSL) is the standard encryption method and is supported for XML based interfaces using HTTP Post and Web Service endpoints. In addition, the REST API is available over HTTPS. All these integration methods can also be implemented with authentication. SFTP is available for integrations that require file based transfers.

A Site-to-Site IPsec VPN Tunnel can also be established between the client network and the IBM cloud environment using IBM's firewall in order to support other integration transport methods. If you have an existing integration to / from Maximo, it is highly likely IBM can configure and support it in our cloud environment.

Maximo integration options include, but are not limited to:
  • Support for synchronous and asynchronous exchange of data with Maximo.
  • Use of common protocols and format such as Web Services, HTTP, JMS, REST, OSLC, XML, JSON, XML and .csv files, DB tables.
  • Support of Create, Replace, Update, Delete, and Query operations.
  • Maximo integration message generation and delivery based on application object events.
  • Support for implementation (batch) data loading.
  • Pre-defined (75+) interface components are provided along with applications to configure new interfaces.
  • Support for customizing integration processing by using Processing Rules and Scripting (Maximo v7.6).

Maximo REST API Documentation can be found here:

Note: Customers who chose to provide their own integration certificates (instead of IBM SRE ownership/management) are responsible for providing renewed certificates to IBM before expiration. The IBM SRE team does not track expiration dates of customer-provided integration certificates.

Maximo also supports data export and import capabilities from both the Application front end and the MIF (Maximo Integration Framework). The Application’s front end capability is suitable for smaller amounts of data, the MIF for larger amounts (bulk loading, and so on). For more information on the Maximo Integration Framework, see IBM Knowledge Center.

The following document describes data export and import using the front end Maximo Application (GUI): TPAE75 app import export.pdf

Use of MXLoader

MXLoader can connect to any SaaS environment using MIF calls over HTTPS. It is a developer tool that is not officially supported by IBM. Issues configuring or using MXloader are not the responsibility of CDS or IBM product support. Customers need to ensure that they use the correct authentication method in MXLoader based on the configuration of their SaaS environment. The IBM SRE team will not install this tool in SaaS environments; it must be installed and configured on a client workstation by the customer.
