Creating a project

Create a new project that serves as the foundation for a financial reporting deliverable by configuring project details, data source, and company structure.

About this task

A project defines the reporting structure, connects to IBM Controller data, and determines how financial results are composed and presented. During project creation, you configure three sections:

  • Project details — General settings including name, style sheet, and regional options.
  • Data source — Connection to IBM Controller and reporting parameters.
  • Company details — Reporting entities and financial statement types.

Before you begin, ensure the following:

  • Ensure that you have access to the relevant IBM Controller data source.
  • Confirm that a style sheet has been created or that a default IBM style sheet is available.
  • Identify the group company and parent company to be used in the report.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the Projects page.
  2. Click Create project.
The Create project workflow opens, organized into three configuration sections.
  3. Complete the Project details section.
  4. Click Next and complete the Data source section.
  5. Click Next and complete the Company details section.
  6. Review all settings.
  7. Click Create.

Results

The project is created and initialized. The system retrieves financial data from IBM Controller based on the configured data source and company settings, and prepares the project workspace with the defined report sections. A success notification is displayed and the new project appears in the project list.

What to do next

Note: Ensure consistent naming conventions across projects. Consider copying an existing project when starting a new reporting period to reuse structure and configuration.
