Defining a search

You can refine or filter a search in several ways using the Search Definitions window.

To open the Search Definitions window to define a search, right-click the resource that you want to search, highlight Search and select an option from the menu displayed to open the Search Definitions window, or click the Search Definitions icon Search definitions icon, a torch. on the toolbar.

Resource Name
You can enter a resource name either as an explicit string or by using an asterisk as a wildcard character.

Resource type
You can accept the supplied wildcard resource type or you can select an alternative type by clicking the down arrow and selecting a resource definition.

Configuration(s)
You can search using the supplied configuration or click Choose to open the Select Configurations window and select from the configurations displayed. You cannot select configurations if you are not connected.

Group(s)
You can accept the supplied group. Click Choose to open the Select Groups window and select from the groups displayed.

Filtering the Resource search
You can further modify your search by adding filters. You must select a resource type before a filter can be added. To add a filter, click the Green plus icon. and select an attribute. When you select an attribute, a panel opens, which displays the filter parameters to refine your search further. The filter parameters are relevant to the attribute; for example, free text, a calendar, or fixed options to select. You can select as many attributes as you want and they remain in the Filter window. To delete a filter, select an attribute and then click the red cross. The following windows illustrate the different types of filtering available:

The filtering panel also has is and is not options that vary according to the available filtering.
