Hardware requirements

Minimum hardware allocations for Bare Metal and Peer Pod deployments of IBM Confidential Computing Containers for Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform (CCCO).

Bare Metal deployment

For Bare Metal deployments, a compute node LPAR running CCCO workloads must have sufficient capacity for the OpenShift node and the CCCO VM it hosts.

For a single CCCO VM with Secure Execution facility enabled, the following are example starting-point allocations:

  • Processor: 2 IFLs (Integrated Facility for Linux)
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
Important: These values are provided for initial planning purposes only. They are not validated minimum supported requirements, and lower configurations have not been tested.

Peer Pod deployment

For Peer Pod deployments, the OpenShift cluster must be sized and configured according to Red Hat OpenShift requirements and best practices for your environment.

The following additional hardware requirements apply:

  • Feature Code 115: Secure Execution for Linux on IBM Z or IBM LinuxONE hardware
  • Dedicated KVM LPAR for hosting Peer Pod virtual machines

For initial planning, a Peer Pod host can start with the following allocations:

  • Processor: 1–2 IFLs
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
