Adding Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Prerequisites
Perform the following steps before you begin setting up AWS services in Cost and Asset Management:
- Set up Cost and Asset Management users.
- Get a Cost and Asset Management admin or ITIO user role for yourself.
- Have all your Cost and Asset Management and AWS API credentials available.
If you do not already have an AWS account or AWS credentials, you must set up an AWS account. See the basic steps and links to AWS documentation in the following section.
Setting Up an Amazon Web Services Account
For detailed know how, see AWS documentation.
- Set up an AWS account.

Set up the AWS Master Billing Account. See the "Cost and Usage Report" section of the AWS Billing and Cost Management.

Set up the Simple Storage Service (S3) bucket and grant permission to the S3 Bucket. Important: Ensure that you set up your S3 bucket in AWS at least 25 hours before using it.

To set up each of the asset accounts, enable CloudWatch Service and set up a read-only IAM user.

Select the tags that you want to bring into Cost and Asset Management.

Obtain the following information from AWS:
- Billing Account Information
- Master Billing Account #
- Access Key ID
- Secret Access Key
- S3 bucket path associated with your master billing accounts

For each asset account that is associated with your master billing account, obtain the following information:
- Account Number
- Access Key ID
- Secret Access Key
- Turn on programmatic billing access.
- Gather your budgetary unit and budget information.
Entering Your AWS Credentials into Cost and Asset Management
To enter your AWS Credentials into Cost and Asset Management:
- Using a Cost and Asset Management Admin or ITIO user role, log in to the system.
Note: The system navigates to Settings > Providers & Accounts when no provider data is available.
- On the Add Account screen, select Amazon Web Services. The screen refreshes so you can add your billing account name and billing API credentials.
- Add the Billing Account Name.
- Add your account information.
Note: If the cost and usage report path is added and s3 bucket for cost and usage is not added, an error message will display.
- Click Connect. The Add Asset Account link screen displays.
- Click Add Asset Account.
Note: AWS calls an asset account a linked account.
- Enter information on the Basic Information and Asset Accounts pages.
- When finished, click Connect Asset Account.
