Creating and modifying an organization
You can create and modify an organization in Channel Applications Manager.
About this task
To create an organization:
Procedure
- From the tree in the application rules side panel, choose Participant Modeling > Participant Setup.
- The Organization Search window displays in the work area. Choose the Create New icon. The Create Organization pop-up window displays.
- Enter information in the applicable fields. Refer to Table 1 for field value descriptions.
- Choose the Save icon. The Organization
Details window displays.
Table 1. Create organization popup Field Description Organization Code Enter a unique code that identifies the organization. Organization Name Enter the name of the organization. DUNS Number Enter a unique nine-digit identification sequence, which provides unique identifiers of single business entities. Sterling Order Management System Software does not associate any logic with the DUNS number. Account Number With Hub If the organization is not the Hub, enter the account number that the organization has with the Hub. Locale Choose the organization's geographic location from the drop-down list. Parent Organization Choose the parent organization from the drop-down list. Organization Is An Enterprise Check this box to configure the organization as an Enterprise. Note: When you select this checkbox, the Primary Enterprise drop-down list is disabled and the Assigned Colony Id drop-down is enabled.Organization Is a Seller Check this box to configure the organization as a Seller. Note: When you select both this checkbox and the Organization Is An Enterprise checkbox, the Assigned Colony Id drop-down is enabled and the Primary Enterprise drop-down is disabled. When you select this checkbox but do not select the Organization Is An Enterprise checkbox, drop-downs for both Assigned Colony Id and Primary Enterprise are enabled.Assigned Colony Id From the drop-down list, select the Colony ID or DEFAULT Colony ID. The DEFAULT Colony ID is installed automatically with Sterling Order Management System Software. If you do not make a selection, DEFAULT is assumed. Notes:
- This field is displayed only if the organization is in a sharded environment.
- This selection is enabled only if either or both of the following check boxes are enabled:
- Organization Is An Enterprise
- Organization Is a Seller
Primary Enterprise Select the appropriate primary enterprise from the drop-down list. Note: The Primary Enterprise field is disabled when you select the Organization Is An Enterprise checkbox.This Primary Enterprise is the default enterprise displayed on the entry point for order console screens (for example, on search screens and create screens).
On the Organization Details screen, when creating or modifying a node organization, the actions that appear on the Primary Info tab of the node attributes tab are the actions created for that enterprise. Whenever any enterprise level configuration is retrieved for a specific organization, the rules are always retrieved for the Primary Enterprise of that organization.
Note: The 'Primary Enterprise must be specified.' error is thrown while saving, if neither 'Organization Is An Enterprise' checkbox nor an appropriate primary enterprise is selected from the drop-down list.Organization is a Fulfillment Node Check this box to indicate that the organization is a fulfillment node. In Node, select the node type from the drop-down list. Choose the Create New icon to create a node type.
Organization is a Yard Check this box to indicate that the organization is a yard. Address Enter the address of the organization's corporate headquarters. This information is mandatory. Choose the Details icon to enter the address.
Choose the Contact tab to view additional contact information.
You can also specify Latitude and Longitude coordinates for this address.
Latitude and Longitude need to be entered using decimal format with a range of -90 to +90 for latitude and -180 to +180 for longitude.
Note: A user cannot create a node unless the node that is being created will be automatically accessible to the user after creation.The newly created node will be automatically accessible to the user in the following scenarios:
- The user who creates the node is an Enterprise
user, and
- no team is associated to the user
- the user's team's ShipNode access is set to "All Nodes"
- the user's team's ShipNode access is set to "User's Node", and the user's enterprise is the parent of the node that is being created
- the user's team's ShipNode access is set to "Nodes Accessible to Team Creator", and the user who has created the team has automatic access to the newly created node
- The user who creates the node is a Node user, the user's team's ShipNode access is set to "Nodes Accessible to Team Creator", and the user who has created the team has automatic access to the newly created node.
Any user who has access to a restricted set of nodes in the user's team configuration cannot create a ship node. Also, if the user is a Node user, and no team is associated to that user, the user cannot create a ship node.
Note: If an organization's role is modified to a seller organization, then ensure that you save the changes, close the Organization Details window and load it again.
