Defining time frames for pricing rules and coupons

You can configure pricing rules and coupons to take effect according to specific dates, days, and times. You can also specify that these times adjust with different time zones.

For example, you can set the effective date for a pricing rule as January 1 to January 31. Within that timeframe, you can also define the following parameters:
  • The pricing rule is applicable on a certain day (or selected days) of the week
  • On those days, the promotion is effective during certain time slots; for example, from 12:00 - 9:00 p.m.

Further, an Enterprise-level rule can be set to reflect the organization’s time zone. The rule "Enable Seller Timezone for Price Calculation" indicates whether price lists and pricing rules are effective at the locale instead of the installation (server) locale.

So if the server is in the Eastern Standard Time Zone (EST) and the promotion specifies a 20% discount on all DVDs purchased before 9:00 p.m., a customer in Pacific Standard Time Zone (PST) can still take advantage of that sale at 8:00 p.m. PST. This is true even though it is 11:00 p.m. EST at the server location.
