Identifying a customer
To create an order, you must identify the customer who wants to place the order.
Procedure
- Log on to Sterling™ Call Center. The Home page opens.
- Go to the Customer Search screen in
one of the following ways:
- If you are creating an order, follow the order creation wizard.
- If you are modifying a draft order, search the order, and follow the order creation wizard.
- Identify the customer.
- Registered customer:
- For a registered customer, in the Customer Search Criteria panel,
enter the appropriate details, and click Search.
- If the search results in a single record, the customer information is displayed in the Search Results panel.
- If the search results in multiple records, a list of customers that matches the search criteria is displayed. By default, you can preview the details of the first customer record in the list.
- Select a customer, preview the address and contact details, and
then click Next.
A business customer can have multiple contacts. Therefore, to associate a business customer contact with the order, select an appropriate contact from the Contact list. You can preview the details of the selected customer. You can modify the address for the selected customer. For a business customer contact, you can modify the tax exemption options.
If a new contact of an existing business customer wants to place an order, click the + icon to create the new contact.
- Click Next to go to the next page in the order creation wizard. The customer is associated with the order.
- For a registered customer, in the Customer Search Criteria panel,
enter the appropriate details, and click Search.
- Unregistered customer:
- If the customer wants to register with the organization, click Create New Registered Customer. The Create Contact window opens. Enter the appropriate details and click Apply. The customer details are associated with the order.
- If the customer does not want to register with the organization,
click Continue With Unregistered Customer.
The Add Address screen opens.
- In the "Bill To" and "Ship To" sections, click Add, the appropriate address capture window opens. Enter the appropriate details and then click Apply.
- Click Next. The shipping and billing address are considered for the order.
- If you want to identify the customer at a later point, click Next.
