Confirming payments
When you create or modify an order, the order total is updated. In such situations, you can use the Payment Confirmation screen to view payment details, collect, and manage customer's payments. Similarly, you can manage payments for return orders.
Procedure
- Log on to the Sterling™ Call Center. The Home page opens.
- Navigate to the Payment Confirmation screen
in one of the following ways:
- If you are creating an order, follow the order creation wizard.
- If you are modifying a draft order, search the order, and follow the order creation wizard.
You can view the amount that the customer must pay to fulfill the order.
- Click Add Payment Method. The Add
Payment Method window opens. Payment methods that are already
saved against the customer are listed in the Saved Payment
Methods panel.
- If the customer wants to use a saved payment method to pay for
the order, select the appropriate payment methods and click Apply.Note: If the existing credit card payment method for a customer cannot be used while capturing payments for an order, you must create a new credit card payment method for the customer and ignore or delete the previous payment methods.
- If the customer wants to pay using a new payment method, click New Payment Method.
- If the customer wants to use a saved payment method to pay for
the order, select the appropriate payment methods and click Apply.
- For a specific payment method, in the Amount
to Charge field, enter the amount that the customer wants
to pay by using the payment method.
For example, if the order total is $1000 and the total amount that is collected from different payment methods is $990, the customer must pay $10 to fulfill the order. Therefore, the additional amount that is required is displayed. Otherwise, a message that indicates that sufficient funds are available is displayed.
You can choose to charge specific payment methods, remove a payment method, and edit the charges for each payment method.
The order total links to the Order Pricing summary screen. You can view the pricing breakup of the order total such as the sub total, order adjustments, shipping charges, and taxes.
You can also apply coupons or promotion codes to adjust the order total and record notes to save important information for the order.
- Click Confirm. The order is confirmed
and the Order Summary screen is displayed.
If the payment fails authorization during confirmation, you are prompted with the relevant information. You can provide this information to the customer and prompt for a new payment or fix the existing one.Note: You cannot confirm the order until sufficient funds are provided.
