Delete an instruction from an item

You can delete instructions that were added manually and instructions that were added from the existing instruction codes.

About this task

When you delete an instruction that was added manually to an item, the instruction is deleted from the database. However, when you delete an instruction that was added from the existing instruction codes, the instruction is not deleted from the database but only dissociated from the item.

To delete an instruction from an item:

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the Instructions screen. To navigate to the Instructions screen, perform the following steps:
    1. Log in to Sterling Business Center as an Item Administrator.
    2. The application home page is displayed. Click the Products tab.
    3. From the Products home page, click Find Item in the Catalog dashlet.
    4. In the Item Search screen, enter the search criteria, and then click Search to view a list of all the available items. Alternatively, use either the Basic Search or the Advanced Search option to narrow down the list of items displayed.
    5. In the Items panel that is displayed, click the Item ID hyperlink. Alternatively, double-click the row containing the Item ID.
    6. The Primary Information screen is displayed. In the Related Tasks panel, click Manage Instructions.

      The Instructions screen is displayed.

  2. From the Manage Instructions for type drop-down list, select an instruction type to view all the instructions pertaining to the selected instruction type. The list displays all the configured item instruction types.
  3. In the Instruction panel of the Item Instructions screen, perform the following steps:
    1. Select the instruction that you want to remove from the item.
    2. The row is highlighted, and the Details panel is enabled. Click Delete.
    3. A message asking for confirmation is displayed. Click Yes to remove the selected instruction from the list.

      The instruction is deleted from the item.
