Add a purpose to a classification

You can add a purpose to a classification to specify about how the classification will be used.

About this task

For example, you have created a classification called Apparel. Under this classification you have two lines of clothing: Men's and Women's. If you want to source men's apparel from Node 1 and women's apparel from Node 2, you can select the Sourcing classification purpose.

You can add a purpose to a classification from the Classification Management screen.

To add a purpose to a classification:

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the Classification List screen. To navigate to the Classification List screen, perform the following steps:
    1. Log in to Sterling™ Business Center as an Item Administrator.
    2. The application home page is displayed. Click the Products tab.
    3. From the Products home page, click Manage Classifications in the Catalog dashlet.

      The Classification List screen is displayed.

  2. Click the corresponding Classification ID hyperlink.
  3. The Classification Details panel is displayed. From the Available Usages list, select the purpose that you want to associate to the classification. The purposes that have already been assigned to another classification are disabled.
    Note: Purposes are listed in the Available Usages list as part of factory setup.
  4. Click the Move Right icon. To add all the available usages, click the Move All - Right icon.
  5. Click Save.

    The purpose or purposes are added.
