Known limitations for CSV, PDF, HTML, XLS, and XML reports

Lists of known limitations on desktop computers and mobile devices for CSV, PDF, HTML, XLS, and XML reports.

  • You cannot download a dashboard as a PDF file if it contains a Nagios data source that displays data in Object format.
  • If you save a dashboard that contains a Circos chart or a Sunburst chart as a PDF, then the Circos and Sunburst charts are not displayed properly in the PDF. The charts show overlapped text. It is a limitation of the library that is used to export the PDF.
  • For Bubble, Scatter, Area, Line, and Clustered or Stacked Bars and Columns charts, in the Set Properties window, if you limit the data points to be displayed on the chart by using Start at 0, Start at, and End at options under MIN COUNT VALUE and MAX COUNT VALUE, then the published or previewed dashboard or widget displays data correctly. However, when you save such a dashboard as PDF, the chart displays all the data points irrespective of the specified limits.
  • When a dashboard with manual data definitions is saved as a CSV or XLS file, then along with the data that is displayed on the published dashboard, the saved file shows all the other data columns that are displayed in the manual data definition preview.

    Similar issue is observed when you save a dashboard that is created by using CEM assisted data definition. The CSV or XLS file shows all the CEM metrics.

  • For a Tag Cloud widget in a dashboard, while setting chart properties, if you select the Show a Linear Scale option for COLORS in the CHART tab, and export the dashboard as a PDF file, then legends are displayed in a single color instead of a linear color gradient. It is the limitation of the chart library.
  • While configuring export settings for CSV file on Engine, if you use + sign as a separator character in the File Separator field, then the downloaded CSV file does not display the + character.
  • If you save a dashboard that contains a Tree chart as a PDF, then the PDF file does not display the expand and collapse icons as displayed on the chart. It is the limitation of the image conversion library.
  • On Safari browser, if you save a dashboard that contains a Badge chart as a PDF, then the PDF does not display the Badge chart.
  • The downloaded PDF report of a dashboard displays extra spaces between the widgets. It is a limitation of the library that is used to export the PDF.
  • If you set icons for KPI values on a Map chart, then the downloaded PDF report for that chart does not display those icons. It is the limitation of the chart library.

    Also, if you draw a polygon on a Map chart and download it as a PDF, then the PDF displays the polygon without its tooltip.

  • For a Treemap chart, if you define a custom linear range, then in the downloaded PDF report, legends are displayed in a single color instead of a linear color gradient. Also, if you define a custom static color range, then in the PDF report, legends do not display the greater than and less than symbols. These are the limitations of the library that is used to export the PDF.
  • On Engine, after you drag a published widget to a dashboard, you must wait for the widget to load before you download it as a PDF file.
  • When you save a dashboard that contains a multi-chart widget where a background image is added to the host widget, then at times, the PDF does not display that image. It is a limitation of the library that is used to export the PDF.
  • For Baseline charts, date and time formats are not displayed correctly in the PDF reports for some languages. For example, Chinese, Japanese, and so on. It is a limitation of the library that is used to export the PDF.
  • When you apply a dark theme to a previewed or published dashboard that contains Tag Cloud chart or Tree chart as a controller widget in a controller-listener relation, and download the dashboard as a PDF file, then the PDF file does not display any labels in the Tree chart and any highlighted point in the Tag Cloud chart.
  • A PDF report of a dashboard that contains a Grid chart with MongoDB data cannot be opened and it displays a message that indicates that the file cannot be opened.
  • If you save a dashboard that contains a Grid chart with status icons as a PDF or HTML, then the PDF or HTML file does not display the status icons as displayed on the chart.
  • When you download Data Definition as an XLS or CSV file, then the XLS file does not display any data. Also, at times, the CSV file does not display any data.
  • For Area, Line, and Clustered or Stacked Bars and Columns dashboards, if you set assisted data definition by using the JDBC Connector and plot timestamp data, then the downloaded CSV and XSL reports show incorrect data.
  • Last column of a Grid chart is displayed as blank in a PDF report. It is the limitation of the chart library.
  • The PDF report of a dashboard that is displayed in Chinese or French language displays incorrect tooltips for widget titles.
  • When you change the time zone on your computer, and download APM, ITM, and ICAM dashboards with timestamp data as CSV or XLS report, then those reports display an additional Timestamp_o column that does not display data according to the changed time zone.
  • When you open a PDF report on Safari and Mozilla Firefox browsers, the widget title tooltip is not displayed.
  • The linear color range is not displayed for Treemap and Tag Cloud charts in HTML reports.
  • When you save a dashboard with a Grid chart as a PDF, then the first few records that are displayed in the PDF might be ordered randomly and might not match with those displayed on the dashboard.

    Also, in case of controller-listener and cyclic relations, when you click a data point on a Grid chart, and then save the dashboard as a PDF, the PDF report might not display the highlighted record.

    To view all the records in the order that is defined in the dashboard, you must click View All in the PDF report.

  • The widget alignment and widget size in the PDF report depends on chart types, chart data, and custom legends. At times, the widgets might not be aligned properly in the PDF report. It is a limitation of the library that is used to export the PDF.
  • When you download a PDF report of a Grid chart that displays percent values and progress bars, then the PDF report does not display the progress bars properly. It is a limitation of the library that is used to export the PDF.
  • A PDF report of an Area, Line, and Clustered or Stacked Bars and Columns charts always displays Threshold lines as Dashed lines, irrespective of the line style selected while defining the threshold lines. It is a limitation of the library that is used to export the PDF.
  • If you create dashboards by using custom layouts or if the dashboards contain special characters, then PDF reports of such dashboards do not display the widgets properly. It is a limitation of the library that is used to export the PDF.
  • On Mozilla Firefox browser or Adobe Reader, PDF report of a dashboard that contains Radar chart with multiple series is not displayed properly.
  • PDF reports of Tag Cloud charts display overlapped text.
