Use this information to install Fix Pack 4, Cloud Application Business Insights V 1.1.8.4 on premises, on Red Hat® Linux® system.

Before you begin

  • Ensure that Cloud Application Business Insights V 1.1.8.3 is already installed on the system.
  • Ensure that the Cloud Application Business Insights server is up and running.
Note: Tasks that are performed during the installation process might be lost.
  • Ensure that you back up all your important data.

About this task

The Fix Pack 4 tar file, icabi_1.1.8.4_xlinux.tar, is digitally signed to assure the users that the tar file is not corrupted or tampered. If required, you can verify the digital signature, and then install Fix Pack 4 on your Red Hat Linux system.

Procedure

Complete the following steps to verify the digital signature and to install Fix Pack 4:

  1. Download the following IBM® Cloud Application Business Insights Fix Pack tar files from IBM Fix Central and save it to a location of your choice:
    • icabi_1.1.8.4_xlinux.tar
    • icabi-1.1.8.4-pub-key.tar
For example, /opt/IBM/INSTALLERS/icabi, which is referred to as DIST_DIR.
  2. As a root user, run the following command to extract the icabi_1.1.8.4_xlinux.tar file:

    tar -xvf icabi_1.1.8.4_xlinux.tar

The following file structure is displayed:
    icabi_1.1.8.4_xlinux.tar
    /bin
    icabi_1.1.8.4.sh
    README_ICABI_FP_1.1.8.4.txt
    prd-upgrade-1.1.8.4
  3. Extract the icabi-1.1.8.4-pub-key.tar file by using the following command:

    tar -xvf icabi-1.1.8.4-pub-key.tar

The following file structure is displayed:
    icabi-1.1.8.4-pub-key.tar
    /icabi_1.1.8.4_xlinux.tar.cosign.sig
    /PRD0004021key.pem.cer
    /PRD0004021key.pem.chain
    /PRD0004021key.pem.pub.key

The public keys and certificates are required for the digital verification.

  4. Optional: To verify the digital signature on icabi_1.1.8.4_xlinux.tar file and to check the validity of the certificate, complete the following steps:
    • Run the following command to verify the signature:

openssl dgst -verify <public.pem> -keyform PEM -sha256 -signature <signature_filename> -binary <file_verified_for_signature>

For example, openssl dgst -verify PRD0004021key.pem.pub.key -keyform PEM -sha256 -signature icabi_1.1.8.4_xlinux.tar.cosign.sig -binary icabi_1.1.8.4_xlinux.tar

If the signature is valid, then the command returns the following response:

    Response verified OK

  5. To install Fix Pack 4, run the icabi_1.1.8.4.sh script on the host server by using the following command:
    cd <DIST_DIR>/
         ./icabi_1.1.8.4.sh

Where, <DIST_DIR> is the location where IBM Cloud Application Business Insights V 1.1.8.4 media is extracted.

  6. When prompted, provide the location where IBM Cloud Application Business Insights V 1.1.8.3 is installed.
    For example, /opt/icabi

If the location is not provided, then the script uses the default location, which is /opt/icabi/

The Fix Pack is installed and logs are generated in the icabi_fixpack.logs file.

The location for the log file is <DIST_DIR>, where the tar file is extracted.

  7. To verify whether the Fix Pack is installed successfully, go to the directory where you installed the Fix Pack, and run the following command to view the Fix Pack version:
    ./showVersion.sh
The product version is displayed as shown in the following example output:
    ICABI 1.1.8.4
    icabi_carina_20240202_FP4
Note: If the Fix Pack installation fails, then the changes that are made by the icabi_1.1.8.4.sh script are rolled back, and the previously installed IBM Cloud Application Business Insights version is restored. Contact your system administrator or support team for further assistance.

To verify whether the changes are rolled back, repeat this step to recheck the version of IBM Cloud Application Business Insights.
