IBM BPM on Cloud Process Admin Console FAQs

Use the Process Admin Console to administer process servers and installed snapshots for each server in development, test, and process runtime environments. From the Process Admin Console, you can also manage process instances that are running on the process server.

Important: IBM® BPM on Cloud components and the functions that they provide are based on the IBM BPM on premises product. The topics that are linked to here are in the IBM BPM Knowledge Center for IBM BPM V8.5.7. To see the topic that applies to your IBM BPM version, use the version drop-down option above the table of contents. Be aware that not everything that is described in the IBM BPM Knowledge Center applies to IBM BPM on Cloud or your version of IBM BPM.

Do I need additional authorization?

For most actions in the Process Admin Console, you must be a member of the tw_authors or tw_admin group. In addition, to manage BPEL process instances, you need the Operator role. If you experience authorization issues, contact your IBM BPM on Cloud account administrator.

How can I monitor and manage the health of my process server?

You can monitor and manage the health of your process server by using the tools provided by the Process Admin Console.

How can I manage process instances?

The Server Admin page shows the process applications that are installed on the process server and a status summary for all the process instances. To see the instances, click the corresponding status value or go to the Process Inspector page. Here you can view the task, activity, and data details of one or more process instances. The details panel includes the actions that you can take to manage the instance, task, or activity. For more information, see Administering processes with Process Inspector.
In addition, you can also manage process instances, tasks, and services, by using tools on the Server Admin page.
  • The Event Manager is useful for troubleshooting processes that run automatically (through an undercover agent, for example) but fail to start. For more information, see Maintaining and monitoring IBM Business Process Manager Event Manager.
  • Identify process applications that have bottlenecks, drill into the process application to identify the steps that are expensive, and learn how long it takes to run services by using the performance data available in the Monitoring > Process Monitor page. For more information, see Monitoring processes and services.

How can I manage snapshots on a process server?

You can see a list of process application snapshots that are installed on the process server and the number of instances of each snapshot that are currently running by using the options on the Installed Apps page. From the list you can configure runtime settings for the snapshot, such as the environment variables. For more information, see Managing installed snapshots.
