IBM BPM on Cloud environments

The access permissions that are assigned to users in IBM® Business Process Manager on Cloud determine the environments that they can access. Each IBM BPM on Cloud environment provides the functions that users need to accomplish the tasks that are assigned to them, such as developing or testing business processes and applications.

For more information about IBM BPM on Cloud components, see IBM BPM on Cloud components.
Table 1. IBM BPM on Cloud environments
Environment Description Components
Development environment Use the development environment to develop, play back, and deploy applications, and also to create and govern business processes.
  • IBM Process Center
    • IBM Process Designer (web and desktop versions)
    • IBM Integration Designer (on dedicated subscription instances only)
  • Process Admin Console
  • IBM Process Portal
  • REST UI
  • Performance Admin Console if the user has access to the development environment and is assigned the Operator role.
Test environment Use the test environment as a staging environment to validate business processes before they are deployed into the process runtime environment. Therefore, the test environment has the same components as the process runtime operating environment.

In the test environment, you use snapshots of process applications that are deployed from the development environment. By using snapshots, you can test applications before you deploy process applications to the process runtime operating environment.

  • Process Admin Console
  • Process Portal
  • Performance Admin Console if the user has access to the test environment and is assigned the Operator role.
Process runtime environment Use the process runtime environment to work with validated snapshots of process applications. The process runtime environment has the same components as the test environment. As a business user of the process runtime environment, you participate in processes that were previously validated from process snapshots.
  • Process Admin Console
  • Process Portal
  • Performance Admin Console if the user has access to the process runtime environment and is assigned the Operator role.
