Deploying an IBM BPM virtual system pattern

You need to configure and deploy an IBM® BPM virtual system pattern for migration.

Procedure

To deploy an IBM BPM virtual system pattern, complete the following steps:

  1. Prepare a pattern before you deploy it. For information about the steps that you must complete to prepare a virtual system pattern,
  2. Check the database user settings and database names to ensure that they are consistent with the source environment.
    • Check the CreateDB script packages if you prepare the pattern with an embedded DB2.
    • Check the IBM BPM 860 Config Process Server Dmgr on Oracle script package if you prepare the pattern with an external Oracle database.
  3. Click Process Server Dmgr, and set the same setting in the Virtual CPUs and Memory size (MB) fields as in the source environment.
  4. Click IBM BPM 860 Process Server Deployment Manager software component, package your configuration to a .zip file and upload the file in the Customized BPM Config properties file field.
Note: You can upload only one environment properties file that ends with .properties, and the files that are listed in the properties file must be packaged to the .zip file.
  5. In the properties window of the IBM BPM 860 Config Process Server Dmgr on DB2 or IBM BPM 860 Config Process Server Dmgr on Oracle script package, set the properties in the IBM BPM Cell administrator user name and IBM BPM Cell administrator password fields the same as in the source IBM BPM.
  6. Click the IBM BPM 860 Config Process Server Dmgr on DB2 or IBM BPM 860 Config Process Server Dmgr on Oracle script package, and make sure the BPM database schema creation approach property is set to Do nothing.
  7. Optional: If you want to keep the original Java™ virtual machine parameters, do not select the Enable BPM tuning check box in the properties window of the IBM BPM 860 Config Process Server Dmgr on DB2 or IBM BPM 860 Config Process Server Dmgr on Oracle script package.
  8. Optional: If you need IBM Tivoli® Composite Application Manager, select the Enable monitoring check box in the IBM BPM Custom Node software component and IBM BPM HTTP Server software component
  9. Optional: If you find that the target environment properties file does not cover all the configurations of your source environment, and that you have custom scripts to cover the missing configurations of your source environment, then you can put your custom scripts after the IBM BPM 860 Post Config script package.
Note: Before you put your custom scripts after the IBM BPM 860 Post Config script package, ensure that your custom scripts work well in a IBM BPM pattern.
  10. Save your changes, and deploy the pattern that you created in the Virtual System Patterns window.
  11. In the Virtual System Instances window, stop the deployment manager by running the stopManager.sh command after you log on to the instance.
