Saving your changes in IBM Process Designer
When you work in the desktop Process Designer, you must explicitly save your changes. When you work in the web Process Designer, you have the option to save your changes as you make them.
In the desktop Process Designer, your changes are
not saved until you click Save
or press Ctrl+S. An asterisk (*) beside the name of the artifact that you are editing
indicates that there are unsaved changes. If you close your editor without saving, you lose your
changes.

In the web Process Designer, you can configure how
your changes are saved by activating one of the two save modes:
- The explicit save mode: In this mode, your changes are not saved until you click Save (similar to the desktop Process Designer). After you save your changes, the artifacts become available to other users for editing.
- The automatic save mode: In this mode, every change that you make is automatically saved as you
make it. As a result, when you close an editor or the browser crashes, your changes are still
preserved. The
indicates the artifacts that you change. At this point, other users who have the same
library item open can view your changes only in read-only mode. To make the artifacts available to
others for editing, you must click Finish Editing
after you complete your changes.
