When you create a process application, you provide a name,
acronym, and optional description of the process application.
About this task
You create process applications in
Process Center. You
can access the Process Center console in the following ways:
- Through the Process Center URL
(for example https://servername:9080/ProcessCenter) into a web browser.
- Through a link in Process Designer.
Tip: If you are creating processes or straight-through
processes in your process application, use the Process Center URL.
If you are building BPDs in your process application, use the Process
Designer desktop editor.
Procedure
To create a new process application, complete the following
steps:
- Start Process Center.
- In the Process Apps tab, click the Create New Process App option.
- In the Create New Process App window, complete the following steps:
- In the Process App Name field, specify a name for the process
application.
- In the Acronym field, specify an acronym by:
Accepting the generated acronym, or
- Typing a new acronym.
The acronym must be unique and limited to 7 characters. IBM® BPM uses the acronym as an identifier for this
process application and the library items that it contains. For example, when you manipulate the
items within the process application with the IBM BPM
JavaScript API, you can use the acronym to specify the
namespace of the items.
- In the optional Documentation field, type a description. You can view
the description in Process Center by clicking the
question mark next to the process application name.
If you want Process Designer to immediately open when the new
process application is created, select the Open in Process Designer check
box.
- Click Create.
- Open your process application to create your processes and other artifacts. By default, process applications open in the web Process Designer. To open a process
application in the desktop Process Designer, open Process Center from the desktop Process Designer. The Process Designer then displays the Process App Settings editor.
This editor is where you can update settings that apply globally to the process application such as
setting the theme used by its coaches, setting the namespace, and exposing services. For
information, see Editing process application settings
