Managing Process Server caches and databases

The Process Server caches and databases normally run efficiently and without issues. However, in some cases particular problems come up that require you to use the utilities covered in this section.

Reviewing IBM BPM caches
For performance reasons, IBM Business Process Manager caches some information about the Process Server. The caches for IBM BPM refresh automatically and so resetting these caches should only be required when an issue exists that a reset might rectify.
Deleting tasks from the Process database
To reduce the amount of space IBM Business Process Manager uses, administrators can use the Task Cleanup utility in the Process Admin Console to delete tasks from the IBM BPM Process database.
Removing process instances from the Process Server database
To prevent disk-space issues and long waits in Process Portal, use the BPMProcessInstancesCleanup command. However, you can also use the deprecated LSW_BPD_INSTANCE_DELETE stored procedure to remove all runtime data in the Process Server database that is associated with a completed business process definition (BPD) instance.
Business data alias cache configuration
Business process definition (BPD) variables that are configured to be available for search are given alias names and are cached in the business data alias cache. To improve performance, you can configure the cache to receive the business data aliases for only the snapshots that have associated instances instead of keeping the default setting that returns all the aliases for all the snapshot definitions.
