After you add the storage volume, you can add the disk
by using the user interface.
Before you begin
If you have a standby database virtual machine with DB2® high availability disaster recovery
(HADR) support in the virtual system instance, ensure that you added
storage volume to both the primary and standby virtual machines before
you add the disk. You must assign the same storage volume size for
both the primary virtual machine and the standby virtual machine.
The database virtual machines must meet the following requirements:
- All database roles must be primary on the primary server
- All database roles must be standby on the standby server
You can add storage without meeting this requirement. But after
you add the disk, this requirement is checked and if it is not met,
the disk is not partitioned.
About this task
To add the disk, you can use the
IBM® PureApplication® System user
interface.
Important: To add disk space to a virtual system
instance that contains a standby database part with DB2 HADR support, add the disk to both the primary
and standby virtual machines. First, use this procedure on the standby
database virtual machine. Then use these steps again and select the
primary database virtual machine.
Procedure
To add the disk with the user interface, complete the
following steps:
- Optional: Add the AddDisk script package.
- If you deployed a predefined pattern and the virtual machine
is running in the resulting virtual system instance, the AddDisk script
package is already attached to the database part.
- If you created the pattern, add the AddDisk script package
to the part. See the information about associating a script package.
- In the Virtual Systems Instances
window, select the virtual system.
- In the Virtual machines section,
expand the database virtual machine section.
- In the Script packages section,
click Execute now for the AddDisk script package.
Important: When you run this script package, use
the default root as the user.
If the size of the disk you are attaching is more than
25 G, the AddDisk script package automatically updates the following
log paths to the newly mounted disk:
This update provides better database space allocation to accommodate
the larger disk size.
