Documenting the sub-decisions and data inputs
After you document the information that supports the decision, start modeling the structure of the decision, specifically the sub-decisions and data inputs.
The result of the root decision is the conclusion. The conclusion of the root decision depends on a number of inputs. The inputs can be either sub-decisions or data inputs that are connected with dependency lines.
- sub-decision
- A decision that describes how you assess an aspect of the root decision. The root decision depends on the sub-decisions. Each sub-decision can have its own description and properties.
- data input
- Information that you use to make a decision for a sub-decision.
In the editing mode of a decision diagram, click Add Sub-Decision or Add Data Input to add the required information under the root decision. When you're finished, you can move down to the next level in the decision diagram until all the sub-decisions and all the data inputs for the corresponding sub-decisions are documented.
After you add sub-decisions and data inputs, you can go back and forth between different levels in the decision diagram whenever you discover additional decision inputs that must be documented.
