Limitations in working with BPM documents

There are some limitations in working with BPM documents. In most situations, you can successfully work around these limitations.

Some known limitations are:

  • The BPM document store restricts document size to 1 GB (gigabyte) or less
  • The BPM document store is not available on all platforms
  • The BPM document store should not be configured with additional ECM services or add-ons
These limitations are discussed in the following sections.

The BPM document store restricts document size to 1GB or less

If you attempt to create or enhance a BPM document and it results in a document size that exceeds 1 GB, you will receive an error message that directs you to reduce the document size. As a system administrator, you can use the document-attachment-max-file-size-upload option in the 100Custom.xml configuration file to control the document file size. For more information, see Configuring the file size of uploaded content management documents.

The BPM document store is not available on all platforms

Information about the platforms where the BPM document store is not available is found in Limitations in administering the BPM document store.

The BPM document store should not be configured with additional ECM services or add-ons

You should not use ECM services or add-ons that are not specified for use with the BPM document store, such as using IBM® Enterprise Records against an object store to control the lifecycle of a document.
