To upgrade to IBM Process Federation
Server
V19.0.0.3, follow the instructions to install the
V19.0.0.3 refresh pack for each process
federation server in the upgraded installation.
Before you begin
Make sure that the following prerequisites are completed.
- Upgrade Process Portal to V19.0.0.3 before you upgrade Process Federation Server.
- Upgrade your version of IBM
WebSphere® Application Server Liberty to
19.0.0.9, as it is required for Process Federation Server
V19.0.0.3.
- Get hold of Installation Manager V1.8.9 or later, as it
is required to install IBM
WebSphere Application Server Liberty
19.0.0.9.
Procedure
- Stop all servers that are defined on the Process Federation Server installation
that is being upgraded.
- Install the V19.0.0.3 refresh pack
onto the existing Process Federation Server
installation.
- Install the version of Installation Manager
that is provided with the refresh pack. Otherwise, the upgrade might fail with
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError errors.
- Follow the instructions for Installing fix packs and interim fixes on IBM Process Federation Server.
Attention: In V19.0.0.3, Process Federation Server can only run on WebSphere SDK Java
Technology Edition for Liberty V8.
- If needed, install WebSphere SDK Java Technology Edition Version 8 for Liberty on
Process Federation Server, then uninstall WebSphere SDK
Java Technology Edition Version 7 for Liberty.
- Start the Process Federation Server
Installation Manager and install WebSphere SDK Java
Technology Edition Version 8 for Liberty.
- After the installation completes, click Finish.
- In Installation Manager, go to the
Uninstall Packages page, and select the WebSphere SDK Java Technology Edition
Version 7 for Liberty.
- After the uninstallation completes, click Finish.
-
Because Process Federation Server
V19.0.0.3 needs IBM
WebSphere Application Server Liberty 19.0.0.9, retrieve the fix pack as
follows.
-
Download Liberty fix pack
19.0.0.9-WS-LIBERTY-ND-FP from this Fix Central page.
-
Add the configuration repository of the fix pack to IBM Installation
Manager.
-
Decompress the pfs.18001.delta.repository.zip and
pfs.19002.delta.repository.zip files, and add the corresponding configuration
repository to IBM Installation
Manager.
You need these two files because upgrading Process Federation Server from 8.6.0.0 to V19.0.0.3 requires the 18.0.0.1 delta image and the
19.0.0.2 delta image.
-
Start the servers.
- Verify the changes, including those for customized applications.
- Update customized applications if required.
What to do next
Process Federation Server requires
a dedicated database for the process federation servers in the federated
environment. If you do not configure a database, you cannot create
saved searches that span multiple federated systems. For information
about creating and configuring the Process Federation Server database,
see Creating the Process Federation Server database and Configuring the Process Federation Server database.
