Archiving snapshots in the Workflow Center console

If a process application snapshot or a toolkit snapshot is no longer used, you can archive it. When you archive a snapshot, it no longer appears in the list of snapshots for the process application or toolkit in the IBM® Workflow Center console. You must restore a snapshot if you want to edit it or perform any other actions on it.

Before you begin

To archive a snapshot, you must have write or administrative access to the process application or toolkit.

About this task

When you archive a snapshot, all its authoring data is archived and cannot be used. Instance data is not archived. You cannot run the artifacts, for example, processes and services, of an archived snapshot.

In the case where a named snapshot that was created from the tip is archived, and they have the exact same content, the two snapshots are still associated through a common ID. Because of this association, the tip artifacts also cannot run. However, as soon as you change the tip, it disassociates from the archived snapshot, and the tip artifacts run independently again.

Procedure

To archive a snapshot:

  1. Select the Process Apps or Toolkits tab.
  2. Select the process application or toolkit for which you want to archive snapshots.
If multiple tracks exist, select the track that you want from the drop-down menu.
  3. Find the snapshot that you want, and then click Archive from its pop-up menu (the downward arrow icon used to access actions for the snapshot).
  4. When prompted, click Archive to confirm your selection.

Results

The snapshot is archived.
To view or restore archived snapshots, click the Archived filter.
Important: After you click the Archived filter you will see a Delete button. Do not click the Delete button to delete the snapshots. See the Issues with BPMDeleteSnapshot and BPMSnapshotCleanup commands in IBM Business Process Manager (BPM) flash technote.
