Generating names for process instances
When you run a process, a default name is created for the process instance. This name is
visible to business users in Process Portal,
allowing them to distinguish between different instances of a process as they complete their work.
In designer, you can change the way these process instance names are generated.
About this task
Procedure
To modify the way that the process instance names for a given process are generated:
- Open the process and go to the Overview tab.
- In the Advanced section, change the text in the
Instance name field if you want the name of each instance to be something
other than the process name. Be sure to retain the quotation marks around the text. By default, the instance ID is appended to the instance name that you specify, using the
tw.system.process.instanceIdvariable. You can remove this variable or use the variable picker to choose additional variables. - Click Save or
Finish Editing. For details about declaring variables for the client-side human services, see Declaring variables
