Reporting usage metrics with ILMT
IBM® License Metric Tool (ILMT) collects usage metrics for IBM Business Automation Workflow and sends them to IBM Software Central or Usage Central. ILMT captures business value metrics and generates usage reports for auditing and compliance verification.
About this task
You are responsible for maintaining compliance with licensing terms and conditions. ILMT audits IBM software use by capturing business value metrics and automatically sending compliance data to Software Central or Usage Central.
ILMT collects adoption metrics separately from license compliance metrics. The ILMT scanner runs on endpoints (typically daily), reads SWID tags and usage metric files from product installation directories, and uploads results to the ILMT server.
After ILMT collects adoption metrics, transfer them to Usage Central using one of two modes:
- Online mode (automatic)
- Recommended for most environments. ILMT automatically syncs adoption metrics to Usage Central daily when internet connectivity is available. See Reporting usage metrics with ILMT (online mode).
- Offline mode (manual)
- For air-gapped or highly restricted environments. Requires manual export and upload of metrics. See Reporting usage metrics with ILMT (offline mode).
