If you want to automate your testing of component test projects, test suites, and test cases, you can use Ant scripts to invoke the headless (command line) batch processing environments of either IBM® Integration Designer or IBM Workflow Server. Ant scripts enable you to automatically perform numerous tasks in batch processing environments, such as building, deploying, and testing your component test projects. The headless environments are used exclusively to perform batch processing of Integration Designer modules. You cannot use these headless environments to deploy modules contained in process applications or toolkits to either a IBM Workflow Center server or a process server on Workflow Center.

Unless you have a specific reason for using the batch processing environment of Integration Designer, it is generally recommended that you use the batch processing environment of Workflow Server to gain access to standard tools like serviceDeploy and wsadmin.
