Using a custom visual snippet

A custom visual snippet is one that contains an entire snippet within it.

About this task

It is also called a composite visual snippet, and can be created as follows:

Procedure

  1. Create a new visual snippet in the editor.
    Pay close attention to the Category setting in the wizard in which you are asked to specify a location for your new snippet.
  2. Compose the visual code as necessary.
  3. Save and close your work.
  4. Create another snippet using the editor.
  5. In the Visual Snippets view, expand the category where you saved your first snippet.
  6. Drag this snippet onto the canvas and wire it up as needed.
    The custom visual snippet appears as an activity on the canvas. If you would like to make changes to it, double-click it and it will appear in its own editor.
