Use autotracking if you want to capture data to quickly configure and publish reports using the ad hoc wizard, or if you want to capture data that automatically includes tracking points at the entry and exit of each item in a process. For example, use autotracking if you know that you want to compare the duration for each activity in a process.
Important: The following information applies to both Heritage Process Portal (deprecated) and Process Portal.
When you enable autotracking for a process, you also track the following Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) associated with your process.
  • Custom KPIs associated with your process
  • Custom KPIs associated with the activities in your process
  • The Total Time KPI associated with each process by default
KPIs act as conditions for Service Level Agreements (SLAs), which you can use to trigger a particular consequence such as an email notification. You can analyze the performance of your SLAs using the SLA Overview dashboard in Process Portal. To create custom SLA reports, use the SLASTATUS view and the SLATHRESHOLDTRAVERSALS view in the Business Performance Data Warehouse database.

Autotracking is not required for the Process Performance and Team Performance dashboards, but some features of the Process Performance dashboard are not available without autotracking. For more information, see Enabling process instance management.
