Designing views

V20.0.0.2  When you design views, you can add case page layouts that associate classic case views with modern Adapter pages that incorporate custom client-side human services. You can also add property views.

The property views are used to specify the properties that are displayed to caseworker for a case type. For each case type, you can specify the properties that are displayed for the case summary and the properties that are searchable. In addition, you can specify the properties that are displayed in the Properties widgets that caseworker use to complete cases and work items.

Before you begin

On the Properties page for the case type, add the properties that are used for the case type.

About this task

You can specify the following views for a case type:
 V20.0.0.2  Case Layouts

Use the Case Layouts view to add case page layouts that associate classic case views with modern Adapter pages that incorporate custom client-side human services. You can also use the Case Layouts view to add property views.

When using the Case Layouts view to add a case page layout, the case page layout can be designated as an Add Case type or a Case Details type. If you designate the case page layout as an Add Case type, it is automatically associated with the Add Case Adapter page that incorporates a custom client-side human service. Similarly, if you designate the case page layout as a Case Details type, it is automatically associated with the Case Details Adapter page that incorporates a custom client-side human service. Although client-side human services can be edited (or deleted), only edits to the name and description are permitted after a client-side human service is created. However, you can open client-side human services in Process Designer to modify or enhance the layout.

When using the Case Layouts view to add a property view, you define different layouts for the Properties widgets that are used for the case type. For example, you can define different layouts to meet the requirements of different roles or tasks. Each layout can display a different set of properties. You can use the system-generated view for the Properties widget that is provided by IBM® Business Automation Workflow. Alternatively, you can specify a custom view as the default for the case type. The default view is used unless you configure the Properties widget on a page to use a specific view. For example, you might configure the Properties widget on a Case Details page to use a view for a specific role. You might configure the Properties widgets on an Add Task page to use a different layout for a specific step.

Note:  V20.0.0.2   Containers:  In addition to Case Client, Workplace also provides an environment where caseworker can work on cases and complete them. In Workplace, the following capabilities are supported:
  • Cases can be added, viewed, and updated.
  • Cases can be viewed in client-side human service views or they are opened for viewing in IBM Content Navigator.
  • Case layouts can be customized with custom client-side human service views.
V21.0.2  Split Case and Split Case Adapter

Split Case as a case layout type and Split Case Adapter page are added to the existing Add Case and Case Details layout types in Case Builder.

Case Summary

Use the Case Summary view to select and order the properties that are displayed in the Summary tab of the Case Information widget and in the Case List widget.

In addition to the case properties, you can select predefined properties such as the case identifier, case type, case stage, and date that is modified to include in this view.

Case Search

Use the Case Search view to select and order the properties that are available for building a search in the Search widget.

In addition to the case properties, you can select predefined properties such as the case identifier, case type, case state, case stage, and date that is modified to include in this view.

Note: A new parameter Allow Sort on Case Search Properties is added to the Case client plug-in. If you enable the parameter, the properties in the Case search widget are sorted alphabetically. If you want the properties in the Case search widget to be in the order defined in the case type, disable the parameter.

You can also specify a case property to use as the title of cases of this case type. On the Views page, click the Edit icon for the Case Title Property field. Select a single-value string or integer property to use as the case title. If you do not specify a property for the case title, the Case ID is used by default.
