Upgrading

You can upgrade your IBM Business Automation Insights production deployment to 26.0.0. You might not be able to upgrade installations of continuous delivery (CD) releases directly, but you can upgrade to a version that does support a direct upgrade. If you do not want to upgrade twice, you can migrate to a new operator instance that points to your existing persistent stores.

Supported upgrading paths

Restriction: An upgrade of IBM Business Automation Insights starter deployments is not supported.

The following tables show how you can upgrade your installed IBM Business Automation Insights multi-pattern production deployments to the current version.

Supported databases for 26.0.0 GA upgrade

Restriction: IBM Business Automation Insights deployments from 25.0.1 and 25.0.0 that use databases other than an external PostgreSQL database cannot be upgraded to 26.0.0 GA. The restriction also applies to the Zen, IM and BTS components from IBM Business Automation Insights. You can upgrade only IBM Business Automation Insights deployments from 25.0.1 and 25.0.0 that selected an external PostgreSQL database for IBM Business Automation Insights along with Zen and IM. Wait for an interim fix that supports the upgrade of EDB Postgres to CloudNativePG before you attempt to upgrade your deployments that are not supported at GA.
The following table lists the databases that are supported when you upgrade your IBM Business Automation Insights deployment from a previous version to 26.0.0.

Upgrading to an interim fix

It is recommended to upgrade to the latest interim fix of the release.
Tip: An interim fix addresses defect that are found in 26.0.0. The latest interim fix incorporates all fixes from previous interim fixes, so applying only the latest makes sure that you receive all updates. If you upgrade directly from a previous version to the latest interim fix, you immediately apply all fixes to your target deployment. Therefore, you do not need to apply any individual fix listed in a previous interim fix, as the latest version contains them all.
