Step 1: Define a goal

First, create a goal. A goal is a business statement that brings purpose and scope to your dashboards.

About this task

You have business objectives that go beyond a single dashboard. Let's start by creating a goal that defines an objective that, as the hiring manager, you want to accomplish within a specific timeframe.

To create a goal in Business Performance Center, you define the details of the goal and enter the specifications relevant to your objective.

Tip:
  • A smart goal is specific, measurable, and achievable in a reasonable time-frame.
  • You can define goals for existing dashboards but then you must manually associate the goal with the relevant charts in the dashboard.

Procedure

  1. Complete the goal details:
    1. Go to the Goals tab: paste icon
    2. Select Create.
    3. Enter the following name for your goal: Hiring Process.
The name of your goal must be unique so that it is easily identifiable later.
    4. Enter the following description: Speed up the hiring process and diversify recruitment by region.
    5. Select a color from the color pallet.
This color will help you identify your goal in a dashboard later on.
  2. Complete the goal specifications:
    1. Enter the following goal category: Recruitment.
The goal category is a kind of tag that allows you to filter goals.
    2. Set the priority to High.
Again, the priority is another way of sorting goals.
    3. Leave the start and end dates on Now and Always valid, respectively.
Typically, an effective goal has precise start and end dates. You might want, for example, to improve the efficiency of the hiring process by the end of this year.

Practically, the Now option registers the date of the moment when you click Save. Next time you open the goal, the Custom option is on instead of Now and shows that date.

  3. Select Save to create your goal.

Results

Your goal appears under Goals. Whenever you create a goal, it displays here.

Tip: To quickly find a goal in the list, you can search for the name or category of a goal in the search bar. Try it out: In the search bar, enter recruitment.
