Working with dashboard templates

Provided that you are granted the appropriate permission, use dashboard templates to create your own variants of an existing dashboard without having to start from scratch.

Business Performance Center supports user-owned dashboard templates and built-in dashboard templates . You can manage dashboard templates through the Business Performance Center graphical user interface or by using the REST API. To learn how to access the REST API, see Using the REST API.

User-owned dashboard templates

Users who have the appropriate permission can create templates from their dashboards.

Only the owner of a template can edit or delete it. However, templates cannot be edited or deleted in the graphical user interface. To edit a template, you must replace it by another one. For step-by-step instructions, see User-owned dashboard templates.
Note: Like a public dashboard (which is a private dashboard that has been set to Everyone), a template is visible to all users. However, a public dashboard can still be edited or deleted by its owner, whereas a template cannot be edited or deleted directly in the graphical user interface.

Built-in dashboard templates

Built-in templates are installed with the product. These templates cannot be edited or deleted. Business Performance Center comes with built-in templates for Workflow dashboards, Case dashboards, Content dashboards, Decisions dashboards, and Content Cortex dashboards.
