Installation

Can you install Analytics Content Hub on-premises or in the cloud?

You can install Analytics Content Hub by using either on-premises hardware, on a private cloud, or on a hybrid architecture that uses both on-premises and cloud. However, SaaS offering for Analytics Content Hub is not available, so all installation hardware is self-managed.

On which operating systems can you install Analytics Content Hub?

You can install Analytics Content Hub on Windows and on Linux operating systems.

Can you install Analytics Content Hub across multiple servers?

You can install Analytics Content Hub on a single server, or you can distribute the components across multiple servers.

Can you use one of the existing databases as the Analytics Content Hub Content Store?

You cannot use any of the existing databases as the Content Store database. As a part of the installation process, Analytics Content Hub installs an embedded version of Postgres, which is the only supported Content Store database.

How can you install a newer version of Analytics Content Hub?

All Analytics Content Hub releases are full builds that you can install over an existing installation. Select the Upgrade option during the installation process to update the version.

Does Analytics Content Hub support multiple locales?

Analytics Content Hub user interface supports 12 different locales. By default, the user interface is configured for English and French languages. You can enable other locales by modifying the JSON file. You can also configure other multilingual strings that represent various objects, for example: text boxes, names, connector names, and descriptions.

Can you configure Analytics Content Hub to use Active Directory?

Integration with Active Directory is possible and works on different levels. You can configure Analytics Content Hub uses to use users Active Directory credentials to log in to the application. For more information, see Configuring Active Directory as an authentication source.

You can also map Active Directory groups to Analytics Content Hub roles so that role membership is dynamic and relies on the Active Directory group membership.

Does Analytics Content Hub work with OKTA?

Yes, OKTA supports both SAML and OAuth.

Content systems

Which third-party content systems does Analytics Content Hub support?

Analytics Content Hub provides connectors for various third-party content systems. For more information, see Supported content connectors.

Can you use multiple PowerBI instances in the same Analytics Content Hub deployment?

Yes. To configure a PowerBI connector, you must register the app in Azure, which creates appId and appSecret properties. You can add multiple PowerBI connectors if they have their own appId and appSecret.

Can you use the object security that is defined within the BI system?

Analytics Content Hub respects the security rules that are defined in the underlying objects from the BI systems. When Analytics Content Hub connects to a BI system, the connection is made as the user that is logged in to the Analytics Content Hub. It helps ensure that the user can see the same objects that they are able to view directly in the BI system.

Can Analytics Content Hub connect to any content system?

If you want to connect to a system that does not have a built-in connector, you can do one of the three following actions:

  • Submit a case to request the connectivity. The request is then placed in the Analytics Content Hub enhancement process.
  • Use an HTML widget as a part of the application design. The widget requires a URL address for the specific piece of content and also depends on the third-party system ability to be embedded.
  • Create your own connector by using the Custom Connector API. For more information about this approach, contact the Analytics Content Hub Customer Success team.

Authoring

Can you create applications that have a different visual appearance?

Analytics Content Hub has features to create custom color schemes, themes, and layouts in each application. You can use the customization features to create different applications for various audiences.

Can you include content from multiple BI systems on a single page?

You can embed reports and visualizations from different platforms on a single page.

Can you have consistent filtering across the different visuals with Unified Dashboards?

You can configure global filters for a Unified Dashboard.

Can every user create or edit applications?

Capabilities and roles within Analytics Content Hub determine who can create or edit applications. For more information, see Control capabilities for roles.

Can you include videos in Analytics Content Hub?

You can directly integrate videos from YouTube and Vimeo. You can also embed videos from other platforms by using HTML widgets.

Can you embed multiple YouTube videos in the same tile?

To embed multiple YouTube videos in the same tile, you must create a YouTube play list and then use the play list URL address within Analytics Content Hub.

Is there a limit to how many applications can you create?

There is no limit.

Can you embed Google Maps into Analytics Content Hub?

You must generate the map embed URL address and the web page element in Analytics Content Hub to embed Google Maps on Story Board page types.

General questions

Does all content appear in the search results?

All content systems that match the search criteria appear in the search results, providing that the user has access to see the content. You can change the settings, so that the users who do not have the access are able to view the file, but they cannot open it.

Can users have different starting pages when they first log in to Analytics Content Hub?

You can assigned different default pages to each role. Users that have access to multiple applications can also set their own default page.
