Creating maps

You can create a map by yourself or ask either your company administrator or IBM Support to create a map for you.

About this task

For everyday business requirements, you might need to add or create maps. You can use the Configuration Hub user interface to create maps.

Procedure

  1. From the side navigation menu, select Company resources > Mappings, and click Add map.
  2. On the Add new map window, select a business alias from the CTE business alias dropdown.
  3. Select a prefix from the Prefix dropdown. The prefix can be 3 - 8 characters in length. For more information about defining prefixes, see Company configurations.
  4. Optional: Provide a division. The field can contain 1 - 4 characters.
  5. Input a trading partner name in the TP name field. The field can contain 1 - 8 characters.
  6. From the Direction drop down, select I for Inbound connection, O for Outbound connection, and IO (Bidirectional) for those maps that are used for the inbound and outbound data flows. The value for this dropdown depends on your selection, can contain up to 2 characters in length.
  7. Provide the transaction or document type in the Transaction/Doc Type field. The field can contain 1 - 10 characters.
  8. Optional: Input a version number, if applicable, in the Version field. The field can contain 1 - 10 characters.
  9. Optional: Use the Appendix field to input other details. The field can contain 2 - 29 characters, depending on the inputs for the other fields.
  10. The Suffix field is hardcoded to contain the value CH, which stands for Configuration Hub.
For example, in the map name WCX_DIV_TRADINGP_I_214_4010_CH, WCX is the prefix, _ (or underscore) is the default separator, DIV is the division, TRADINGP is the name of the trading partner, I is for an inbound connection type, 214 is the transaction or document type, 4010 is the version, and CH is the default suffix.
A valid map name meets the following parameters:
    • Must contain up to 50 characters, including the prefix, separator, and suffix.
    • Must not contain white space.
  11. Provide a description for the map.
The Map description field is marked mandatory. Unless you provide your comments in the field, you cannot create a map. This field can contain up to 250 characters. You can input only ASCII characters.
  12. Click Create map.
    The map is now created.
